This Privacy Policy describes how Excelsiorify LLC ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information in connection with your use of our website, www.excelsiorify.com (the "Site"), and the services offered thereon.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, place an order, or contact customer service. This includes:

Account Information: Your name, email address, and password.
Order Information: Shipping address, billing address, and payment information (processed by a third-party payment processor).
Child's Information: The first name and photograph of your child, which you provide for the sole purpose of creating your personalized book.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Fulfill your orders and provide the services you request.
Communicate with you about your orders and provide customer support.
Comply with legal obligations, including our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

3. Children's Online Privacy Protection (COPPA)

Excelsiorify is committed to protecting the privacy of children. Our website is intended for and directed to adults (parents and guardians) who are purchasing a product for a child. We do not knowingly market to or solicit information from children under the age of 18.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we have implemented the following policies and procedures regarding the personal information of children under the age of 13:

Age Verification:We use a neutral age-gate to verify that all users who create an account or purchase a product are adults over the age of 18. We do not allow individuals who identify as being under 18 to use our service.
Collection of a Child's Photo and Name:The only personal information we collect that may belong to a child is the first name and photograph provided by the parent for the sole purpose of creating the personalized storybook. Under COPPA, a child's photo is considered personal information.
Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC):We do not collect a child's photo or name until after the adult user has passed our age-gate and has explicitly affirmed that they are the parent or legal guardian of the child and consented to the collection of this information. This consent is obtained via a clear, affirmative checkbox immediately prior to the photo upload process.
Use, Storage, and Deletion of Information:A child's first name is used only to personalize the text of the book. A child's photograph is used only to generate the AI-based illustrations for the book, including the third-party AI processing described below. This information is used for no other purpose. We never sell or rent it, and we never share it for marketing or advertising purposes, or use it to train our own AI models. The photograph is stored on our systems during the production and shipping of your order. We keep it until 30 days after delivery (allowing 14 days for shipping) so we can reprint a lost or damaged book. If you upload a photograph and do not place an order, we delete it 30 days after upload. After the retention period we delete the uploaded photograph file and the face-reference data derived from it. The finished book is kept in your account so you can view and reorder it; it contains the photograph (on the "About Me" page and back cover) and the illustrations of your child. You may ask us to delete the finished book at any time.
Third-Party AI Service Providers:To generate the illustrations and to automatically check that a generated illustration actually resembles your child (a quality-control step before any image is used in your book), we send your child's photograph to third-party AI service providers whose technology we use for this purpose. These currently include fal.ai (illustration generation and image analysis) and, for the identity quality-control check, OpenRouter, which routes that specific request to an underlying AI model provider (currently OpenAI). We use these providers under our agreements with them and instruct them to process this data solely to provide this feature to us — never for their own marketing, advertising, or model-training purposes. Deletion of the photograph from our own systems follows the 30-day retention schedule above; deletion from a service provider's own systems is governed by that provider's data-retention practices, which we are working to confirm and will update here as needed. For printed books, the finished book file, which includes the photograph, is sent to our printing partner (Gelato) to produce and ship your order.
Parental Rights:As a parent, you have the right to: Review the personal information we have collected from your child. Request that we delete this information at any time. Refuse to permit further collection or use of your child's information. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us directly at contact@excelsiorify.com. Please note that a request to delete the photo during the production or shipping phase will prevent us from being able to offer a reprint if the original is lost or damaged.

4. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. They fall into three groups:

Necessary: these keep you signed in, remember the items in your cart, and keep the site secure. The site cannot work without them, and they stay on.
Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, for example which pages are viewed and the general location of visits.
Advertising: we use the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). It tells Meta which pages you view and when you finish a preview or add a book to your cart, so we can measure our ads and show them to people who may like our books. We also send the same events from our own server to Meta (Meta's Conversions API), together with technical details that Meta uses to match the event to a visit, such as your IP address, your browser type, and Meta's own cookie values. The events contain only the story, its price, and the book format. They never contain your child's name or photograph, or your name, email address, or phone number.

When analytics and advertising run. If you are in the United States, analytics and advertising are on by default and you can turn them off at any time: choose "Opt out" in the cookie notice, use the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of any page, or use a browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal, which we treat as an opt-out. If you are anywhere else, or we cannot tell where you are, they stay off until you choose "Accept". Your choice is stored in a cookie on your device, and when you opt out we also remove the analytics and advertising cookies already on it.

Sharing information with advertising partners such as Meta in this way may be described as "sharing" or "selling" personal information under some US state privacy laws. The opt-out options above apply to it.

Our online store and checkout run on Shopify. When you buy, Shopify may share purchase information (for example the items bought and the order value, and your contact details in encrypted form) with Meta so that we can measure how our ads perform. This never includes your child's photograph. Meta's use of that information is described in Meta's own privacy policy.

5. Service Providers

We share information with companies that help us run our service, only so they can do that work for us: Shopify (store, checkout, and payments), Gelato (printing and shipping, including your delivery address and the finished book), our website hosting, image storage, and email providers, and the AI providers described in Section 3.

6. Your Choices

Cookies and tracking: opt out, or change your choice, at any time with the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of any page. You can also send the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, or clear the cookies in your browser.
Ad personalization: you can control the ads you see on Facebook and Instagram in your Meta ad preferences, and opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info.
Your information: to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, email contact@excelsiorify.com. For your child's information, see Parental Rights in Section 3.
